Where can I dispose of old plasterboard?

I replaced a damp damaged ceiling, but the skip hire firm told me that I wasn't allowed to place the plasterboard in the skip. I'm in north Essex, UK, so does anyone know of a way of getting rid of this - it is only a few square metres?
