Economic problem need help?

Its actually a very fair proposal so the outcome would be hard to predict. But I would guess that it would have little effect on the quantity of garbage simply because it would have little or no effect on peoples buying/ intake habits so regardless there would be same amount of trash. It may encourage them to recycle more, compact it more or throw their trash away elsewhere, which will still end up at the dump and the weight would be the same. Which is how they measure the quantity of garbage at the dump. So it would diminish slightly but not enough to even notice or make any difference. The difference would be more money for the same amount of garbage.
