My ear is swollen inside is that the cause of popping when I swallow. 10 POINTS?

Well i went to a different dr not my GP. Both of my ears have been popping when I swallow. He said my left ear is swollen and may have a minor infection. Is that what was causing the popping? He gave be an ear drop. containing anitbiotics and steroids. I have to do it 2 times a day. I used it twice yesterday and today once. When will the popping go? On the package it says dispose it in 28 days? Im geussing I have to use it for 28 days. when will the popping go? It's driving me crazy.
