Is magenta a boy or girl?

Is magenta from Blue's Clues a girl? I'm pretty sure she is. I have this Blue's Clues book form when i was younger and it stated Magenta as she. Why do people think she's a boy? Is it because they think Blue and Magenta should be a couple? IDK! Can you please tell me why because I hate when people call her a boy. If I'm wrong please tell me, but otherwise please help me out. Thanks!
