Nintendo 64 Controller paint modifying help?

Today,i will try to get some Magenta car spray paint from Halfords. Is Halfords reliable for good quality paint? What can go wrong if i mess my modding up? Will i have no controller? What is the worst that can happen? Also,how do i do logos? I want to have the numbers 1998 written on the top,maybe below the Nintendo logo. I guess i cover it up maybe with some tape ? How do i make it shiny and glossy,how do i make it look proffesional? Thanks
