This "soap opera" never seems to end!?

I care about this close friend very much. We've know each other for close to 6 years but there is lack of commitment on his part. He is a "staunch" Christian and continues to tell me that I have to covenant in order for him to be closer. I'm also a Christian and don't really understand his jargon. I'm available every day to tend to his needs, I cook, clean, tidy up, take care of the plants; I'm almost a wife in ways but when it comes to being closer he backs off, and I mean right off. I could just walk away but when I try to guess who comes looking for me again. I'm a little lost on this one and would appreciate any advice out there. Maybe I"ve already made my mind up.
